urn love

So, I love urns. Rusty with the perfect weathered patina like this one from Urban Farmhouse....

tall and slender and chippy white like this one from Urban Farmhouse....

short and squatty and just beautiful like this one, again from Urban Farmhouse....

painted black and repurposed as a very elegant side table like this one from my friend A's house....

or amazing, beautiful, and repurposed as a table in the breakfast nook like this one also from my friend A's house. This one literally makes me scream OMG followed by a long sigh every time I look at it.
But unfortunately, I had no urns at my house, except those fake resin look-a-likes from the big box department stores. I coveted others' urns from afar and window shopped to get my urn fix. I could always stop by Urban Farmhouse to salivate over all the beautiful cast iron urns Lisa gathers up to sell. But, I could never convince my husband to let me bring one {or two} home with us.....there was always a good reason.....too heavy, too big, the car's not big enough, not within the budget.....you know what I'm talking about, right?

And then it happened. I pulled up to one of my favorite little shops in Lithopolis, The Vintage Attic, and before I was out of the car, I spotted them from the corner of my eye....4 diminutive cast iron urns sitting there on the porch. Oh so rusty with some white still visible. You will never believe this, but I didn't buy them that day. I left. I drove home. I went about my business for TWO more days! I thought of those urns. I dreamed of them. And I feared they would be gone. Finally, I went back over there, and my heart skipped a beat because they were still there. I realize they are nothing compared to the beauties I've showcased above, but they came home with me anyways....after all, they weren't too heavy, they weren't too big, the car was big enough, and they sorta fit within the budget, so Mr. Sassafras couldn't get angry with me, could he?

And, here they are, my little urns, in all their glory sitting on the porch with an array of white pumpkins, lime green hedge-apples, and green gourds.

I heart these little urns, and maybe someday, I'll get to bring home a larger one {or two} to keep them company!

If you love urns as much I do, stop by www.urbanfarmhouse.blogspot.com for a mouth-watering selection of unique old urns.....you will just love what you see!

Polly?...did you say you LOVE urns? LOL!! Me too, and you found some really cool ones. Love what you did with them on the front porch and I LOVE the "green" fall color scheme. I've been watching that big one filled with hydrangeas on Urban Farmhouse blog. I keep going back over there and gawking at it! It's very inspiring. Have a great week! Be sure and let me know when you're going to be in town!
