'Tis Christmastime here at the Sassafras maison!
Our new slim tree is trimmed, the ever growing railroad train is
humming along each evening. Mr. Sassafras is loving that the smaller tree gives him
more space for train track. It goes around the entire room!
I placed the tree in an old galvanized feed bucket that I already had on hand.
I decided to turn my cubby into a gift wrapping station....
All the presents that I've wrapped so far have been packaged and sent along their way!
More wrapping taking place tomorrow!
Did you ever DREAM of being a professional gift wrapper as a little girl?
I did!
I loved watching the ladies at Lazarus do their thing making all the gifts look beautiful with
perfectly folded corners, double stick tape, and sparkly ribbon. I always look forward
to wrapping the gifts. The package should be as much of a present as what is inside!
I downloaded Emily's Christmas tags and am using them on packages and as decorative accents throughout my house. She was so sweet to offer these as free printables on her blog Jones Design Co.
I fell in love with this brown velvet ruffled ribbon at Hobby Lobby....
Some of my favorite ornaments this year include this wonderful Eiffel Tower that was a birthday
gift from my sweet friend Janet of Open Market Style. The amazing burlap ribbon was a gift from Janet too!
I filled a few glass ornaments with vintage shred and just love how they turned out!
I attached twine to a few of my handmade muslin rosettes and added them to tree...
Found these petite french envelopes at the French Hen Farm barn sale....16 in a package.....
I love them tucked into my tree....
My booth partner Keely had a bundle of these cute vintage silk brown and white striped ornaments.....I just had to have them!
From our home to yours, we wish you good tidings this holiday season!

Very pretty! I love the train you have too!
I loved seeing a glimpse of your house. Your tree looks great in the galvanized tub and you had such great ideas for ornaments. Seeing the train brought back some good memories.

Everything looks so nice Polly! I love your tree. I really wanted to put mine in my big galvanized tub, but the tree was too big :(
So many lovely things. The cubbies are wonderful and I love the galvanized bucket the tree it in.

Love your tree and your wrapping cubbie is amazing.
Your home and holiday details are beautiful! Trains are so fun! I love to wrap presents too, but I procrastinate and put it off until the night before I leave for Christmas, LOL! In years past I used gift bags, but now I want to wrap again! Gift bags are easier but wrapping is so much better....

Your "Slim" tree is super nice ~ I love the bucket its in. nd yes, I agree about the wrapping - it should be as special as the gift. I wish I had time to really do a great job - but Im usually wrapping them 10 minutes b4 opening:( Also - how do you ever get your photos so large and gorgeous? Ive been trying and can't figure it out.
Everything is so pretty! I love the train winding around the tree.
When I was young my mom and sisters and I would walk downtown to a large department store. After we were done shopping we would take the elevator (one where someone had to run it by hand) to the basement to watch women behind a plate glass window wrap gifts. I thought it was fascinating.
Lots of fun going on at your house! Love your ideas!~Hugs, Patti
So lovely! Love all the little details that mean something special to you, that is what Christmas decorating should be about!
The train is amazing too!
Soooo many pretties! And having been a receiver of some awesomely wrapped presents, I LOVe your wrapping station :) Totally need a place like that as opposed to the middle of my familyroom floor!
I'm loving that tree/ornaments and the galvanized bucket. I bought one and our tree stand was too big. UGH!!!
What a great mail station w/ cubbies. You have such a fun style and great ideas!
Wishing you a happy one!

Looks Amazing! I also have my tree in a galvinzed bucket with a burlap tree skirt! Love the similar taste we share! :)
Merry Christmas!
That wrapping station idea is just brilliant!
I worked as a gift wrapper at JCPenny when I was in high school... it was fun until they started bringing microwaves and bicycles!
Love the gift wrap area.... I always wanted to be a gift wrap artist when I was younger too :) Thank you for stopping by.... come back again when you have time :)
Love it!! Love it all!
Hi Polly!
All your special touches are wonderful ~ but my favorite is the vintage envelopes on the tree!
Love the train and your tree! You're right, the gift-wrapping should be an event in and of itself. Your decor is stunning!

Everything in your house is so pretty! Love that cubby and your ornaments. Your train reminded me to remind Noah to get his train out. Very pretty Polly!
I just love your cubby and the paper filled ornaments!
LOVE trains, too. I have a dream of having a model train someday. :-)
I found some Shiny Brite ornaments....4 boxes of them...none of them were broken...I was so excited. Your tree is gorgeous and I love the train...and all the individual ornaments...I LOVE ornaments!
Your place looks so warm and cozy and I love all your creative touches. Love your eiffel tower ornament and how you have a designated wrapping station. I also remember the Lazarus store wrappers, but being much older than you, I also remember when it was Shillito's! ~Lili
